Mountain Meadow Farm - Horse training, boarding, lessons, and sales

 COBY NESTER (head trainer/instructor)

Back in December of 1981, a little girl was born.  Like many American girls, this one had an insane obsession with horses.  As some people have experienced, this obsession was not acquired or learned, it was flowing through the veins of this blond haired, chubby little girl.  By the age of 7 or 8, her bedroom walls were papered with horse and pony posters and she would lay in her bed for hours imagining herself riding in perfect balance and harmony on each and every one of them.  Well, this dream became a reality when she turned 10 and a local Morgan barn allowed her to clean as many stalls and groom as many horses as she wanted (for free)!!!  You can imagine her excitement when they eventually repaid her in riding lessons and trail rides!
This was just the beginning of a lifelong passion, obsession, and yes, a career.  Coby Nester was taught by some of the best horseman in the country.  Among others, Ray Eli (western), Lyn Fonzo (dressage), and Robert Mendoza (hunter/jumper) were some of her biggest inspirations.  Blending together her instruction from these great horseman, her knowledge acquired from many years of hands on experience training her own babies, and thousands of equine books and magazines, a well rounded trainer and instructor emerged.
It is Coby's honor to be able to influence children and adults alike in how they understand, handle, and ride horses.  In a kind manner, she pushes each student to learn how to ride with balance, empathy for her horse, and confidence.
Just as exciting to Coby is all the different breeds and disciplines of horses that come in for training.  She loves developing a trust and relationship with each horse that allows her to bring the best out of each horse or pony.  It is a great challenge to figure out the individual needs and desires of each horse and to find the area the horse is most likely to excel in and enjoy.
Every horse that comes into training will learn how to longline, as well as develop better ground manners in addition to the training under saddle.

VOLUNTEERS:
What makes this barn fun as well as organized are the many volunteers who show up to work multiple times a week.  Most of them teenage girls, it is a great place for them to be to develop friendships, a good work ethic, as well as integrity and horsemanship skills.
